Jon DeCelles is a sculptor known for creating evocative works that explore themes of beauty, interconnectedness, unity, and strength. From monumental 12-foot, 10-ton limestone forms to intimate 13-inch alabaster angels, his sculptures invite reflection and emotional connection.
A 1985 graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts, DeCelles has exhibited widely across the U.S. and internationally, earning numerous awards throughout his career.
In 2022, he was selected by The Honoring Project to create a 12-foot memorial sculpture commemorating “All American Indian Days " , an annual event held from 1953 to 1984. The piece now stands in a place of honor in Sheridan, Wyoming.
In 2021, DeCelles was commissioned to sculpt St. Kateri Tekakwitha for the San Juan Bautista Parish in Ohkay Owingeh (formerly San Juan Pueblo), New Mexico.
In 2013 DeCelles' work was in the prestigious Venice Biennale with the Imaga Mundi collection
DeCelles' work traveled across Europe and the UK with the Indigenous Brilliance: Contemporary American Indian Art exhibition, curated by Cornelia Vandenberg and Lyle Toledo Yazzie beginning in 2012.
